The Greater Franklin Chamber of Commerce is proud to acknowledge a milestone with the celebration of its 115th anniversary, marking over a century of dedicated service to the Greater Franklin community. Founded in 1910, the Chamber has played a vital role in supporting local businesses, fostering economic development and enhancing the quality of life for residents throughout the region.

Throughout its remarkable history, the Greater Franklin Chamber of Commerce has been a cornerstone of progress and growth. From its beginnings, the Chamber has evolved into a dynamic organization, representing over 460 businesses and organizations across multiple industries. Its efforts have contributed to making Franklin a thriving hub for commerce, innovation and community connection.

“This milestone is a testament to the enduring strength of our community and the strong partnerships we’ve built over the years,” said Rosie Chambers, President/CEO. “For 115 years, the Chamber has worked to ensure Franklin and Johnson County remains a great place to live, work and do business. We couldn’t have achieved this without the support of our members, community leaders and residents who share in our vision of a vibrant and prosperous community.”

Over the years, the Chamber has spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at strengthening the local economy. Highlights include:

  • Hosting signature events that bring the community together, such as BizBash Business and Community Expo and Franklin’s State of the City Address.
  • Establishing the Franklin Chamber Foundation as the nonprofit 501c3 philanthropic arm of the Chamber.
  • Founding a capacity-building grant program for local small businesses.
  • Creating Launch Johnson County, an entrepreneurial program in partnership with Franklin College to support business startups.
  • Developing an active Young Professionals Network to promote opportunities for those starting out in business.
  • Forming a downtown merchants’ group who later became nationally accredited Main Street Organization, Discover Downtown Franklin.
  • Creating the marketing initiative, Genuine Franklin on behalf of the city.
  • Collaborating with local government, nonprofits, and schools to address key issues.
  • Advocating for small businesses by providing resources, education and networking opportunities.

As the Chamber looks to the future, it remains committed to its mission of empowering businesses and enriching the community. Plans are underway for new programs that focus on sustainability, innovation, and preparing the next generation of leaders.

To commemorate this historic anniversary, the Chamber held a special celebration on January 30, 2025 at the newly opened event venue, Church on Jefferson. The event reflected the engaging atmosphere cultivated by the Chamber and featured a proclamation by Mayor Steve Barnett and a birthday party themed celebration. Members, community partners and the public were invited to join in honoring the legacy of the Chamber and its contributions to Franklin’s continued success. “The history of the Greater Franklin Chamber of Commerce and the legacy of those who came before us form a vital part of our foundation”, said Rosie Chambers, President/CEO. “The ongoing commitment of staff and the chamber’s board of directors to serve local businesses is what ensures this organization remains meaningful and impactful.”
