About Us
Franklin Education Connection invests in students in Franklin Community Schools through Study Connection, a homework/mentoring program, and the Education Foundation, which awards grants to teachers to enhance students' academic achievement.
In the 2014-15 school year, Study Connection had a record 116 Study Buddies who provided more than 3,000 volunteer hours of homework help, support and attention to children in grades 2-6. Study Connection has been investing in students since 2005. If you would like to be a Study Buddy, or learn more about how your company's employees can volunteer, please visit their website or call the Study Connection Program coordinator at (317) 524-8544.
Since 2011, the Education Foundation has awarded more than $43,000 in grants to teachers for 32 programs benefiting all eight schools. Funded programs encompass literacy, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), special needs and the arts. Additionally, the Education Foundation established Destination Imagination (DI) at the elementary and intermediate levels as a pilot program and secured funding for Robotics Clubs at Custer Baker Intermediate School and Franklin Community Middle School. DI encourages teams of learners to have fun, take risks, focus and frame challenges while incorporating STEM, the arts and service learning.
